Party Themes

These are only SOME of the parties we’ve had success with in the past. You might find something on this list of suggestions that’s a perfect fit for your birthday kid. If you don’t, just contact us, and we’ll help you find just the right theme. Keep in mind, too, that there are myriad ways to celebrate with one theme. Princess isn’t always about a Princess. Sometimes it’s about a queen, sometimes it’s about joining the birthday princess for some princess-y crafts or baking. And sometimes, it’s just about pretending to be princesses that will make the party really royal!

3 – 6 Princess Party

Imagine a magical room, robed in hand-painted murals that portray a castle for the most royal and beautiful of princesses, and a sculpted garden set for tea with the Queen, and a discreet little cottage where a princess in seclusion awaits her prince charming, and a castle wall overlooking a white-capped sea, with a bobbing ship, off in the distance, returning home or perhaps venturing off to unknown lands. This is the room where we host magical parties for princesses and knights of all ages and imaginative skills. There are many ways in which we host princess parties for your little one: we have one (or more) real licensed character(s) - of your choice – visit us during her party. She will come alone, or with a friendly host, depending on the number of your guests. She can interact with the children in the most professional of manners, and true to form, she incorporates into the program all her favorite friends from her own story. Another, less commercialized choice for a princess celebration is the presence of a real, live Queen! She performs a coronation ceremony whereby the birthday princess receives her royal accessories, and her loyal subjects get to join in the fun and games: a bit of magic, a bit of storytime, and lots of movement, manners and imagination!

7 – 9 Tea Party

As many ways as there are for a Tea Party, we can do it here. High tea, a display of treats for gals and their dolls, or fairy delights for a party filled with whimsy and imagination! We have done tea parties in a variety of ways. Broadway Babies and Superstars can come and bring the original musical, My Fair Lady, to life. Games, challenges, and expert actors and actresses ensure your birthday kid has an "entertaining" party! Or, friends can gather around the island in the Big Red Kitchen to prepare finger sandwiches, sweet treats, and flavored teas and lemonades. Better yet, share the tea with the ephemeral beauty of fairies. Pretty potions and magical nectars combine to make some delicious delights!

6 – 9 Dress-Up Party / Glamour Girls

Playing the part of a superstar can be fun, but looking the part really makes it special! As girls arrive, they are greeted with multiple areas at which they are "made up." (Absolutely every attempt is made at providing a sanitary glamour experience for the girls. Brand new disposable cleaning pads, sponges, and wands are used with each application, and if hair is brushed or otherwise accessorized, it is with personalized brushed and accessories. Children do not share brushes, hair barrettes, or beauty accessories.) After all the glamour, the gals can put on a fashion show, dance with a "real" superstar, perhaps, or sing karaoke. That part is up to you!

4 – 8 Dinosaurs Rock*

This company offers a HUGE birthday celebration – no kidding! Fossils, rocks and gems, and bones of all shapes and sizes will wow your child and his or her friends as they learn and play with all things old and gigantic! The photo opportunities are perfect.

7 – 12 Bingo Blast

What's old is young again! Let us line up the fun for your child's party! A real spinning basket, a numbers board to keep track of all the "calls" and lots of fun friends make BINGO a game for more than the senior crowd.

1 – 5 Shake, Rattle, and Roll with Susan Davis

Susan runs classes throughout our area for little ones, and enjoys sharing birthday parties with us at It's My Party. She is a pied piper of sorts, and gathers all the children around her, beginning with simple and familiar songs, and then she adds props and puppets so the children get to add their own special touches to the birthday pal's special day.

4 – 10 Safari / Animal Embassy Party

Animal Embassy is a very special wildlife education company, now based in Stamford, CT at the Stamford Nature Center. The presenters from Animal Embassy bring a few choice animals, and explain very appropriately and concisely to the children that truly the best pet is one for the whole family – usually a dog or cat. The animals he rescues and incorporates into his multiple programs are all rescued from families, or concerned pet lovers, who didn't realize just what they were getting into with the exotic choice(s) they made. Iguana, desert monitors, scorpions, tarantulas, birds, huge insects from Madagascar, and turtles and tortoises as big as a stepping stool! It's AE's job to care for these animals in the manner in which they are accustomed in the wild. Parents and children alike adore Animal Embassy each time they visit us for a party.

7 – 77 Beading Party (Bead Divas)

This is a fun company based in Rye Brook. Depending on how many children you are expecting, there are enough preparation trays, cords, and beads galore for each beading friend to ogle. Then each gal gets measured, and chooses from real crystals and shiny, artistic spacers to create a bracelet she'll wear with fond memories of your child's party!

5 – 7 Puppets Party

For the arts and crafts lover, a puppets party lets all the children who come make their own fabric and clay puppet! After the characters are made, dressed and otherwise adorned, the Puppetteer leads the kids in an impromptu performance, using our many-themed painted backdrops. It's an imaginative way to share the day!

4 – 7 Ocean / Marine Life

Are ocean adventures what your birthday kid treasures? For boys and girls, pirates and mermaids, there's much to do under the sea. Chests to decorate, mermaid dolls to create, and treasures to find. Walking the plank to a party filled with oceans of imagination is easy with this theme!

7 – 9 Cheerleader Champs

Imagine a cheering crowd of friends celebrating your birthday gal with high-spirited hooting and hollering! Past high-school cheerleaders, and cheer camp counselors, these college gals come in and teach the gals all sorts of poses and positions for cheerleaders. At the end, all the gals sing their cheer for the birthday girl – already choreographed and created ahead of time by your Cheer Party leaders!

3 – 6 Storybook Delight

Many children enjoy a special picture book or story - again and again. Let them live it for their birthday party! Any story can be recreated with age-appropriate activities, games, and crafts. Some stories we've loved to celebrate: My Pony by Susan Jeffers, Pinkalicious & Purplicious by Victoria and Elizabeth Kann, Fancy Nancy by Jane O'Connor, and Baum's Wizard of Oz.

4 – 7 Outer Space

Houston, we have no problem with this fun time! Our space backdrops on all four walls change our party room into a galactic extravaganza. Planets, stars and the blazing sun float on the walls, as children dress like astronauts, and play with a "real" live astronaut. Or they can create their own take-home pot of alien slime. Eeww!

5 – 7 Pony Party

Say howdy to a rootin' tootin' celebration! Races and hay-baling competitions, cowboy/girl relays, and good pony fun, make this a hit for a horsey happy birthday.

3 – 33 Magic Party

This is by far our favorite type of party for 4- and 5-year-olds – and older! The 4 and 5 year old set often still include both boys and girls, and children of this age are just beginning their social friendships, and seem to attend loads of birthday parties every weekend. We have a magician for every type of child, group, and age. Quiet and shy? Outgoing? Does your birthday child think he knows all the tricks?
